"I don't observe anything but the picture in progress while painting. Subjects (or forms) are seldom predetermined nor sought after. They come about in the process of investigating paint application and its connection to remembered or imagined visual characteristics.
"Essentially, I'm searching for a method to give my own imagined forms a tangibility that suggests the representation of something seen."
